Every Liberal woman is already a member of the NWLC Policy Committee. No application. No gatekeeping. Just your ideas, your expertise, and your voice — shaping national policy from the ground up.
The National Women's Liberal Commission Policy Committee is the democratic voice of Liberal women in Canada's policy process. We research, write, debate, and advance policy resolutions that reflect the lived experience of women and underrepresented communities — from coast to coast to coast.
We believe in evidence-based policy grounded in real data, lived experience, and scholarly best practices. We mentor newcomers. We amplify underrepresented voices. We build the strongest women's policy agenda in Liberal Party history.
The NWLC uses a rigorous, democratic process to ensure the strongest, best-supported policies reach the national stage. Here's how it works.
Written by Liberal women. Voted on democratically. Three resolutions advanced to the 2026 Liberal Party Convention in Montréal — two passed, one did not.
Strengthening universal healthcare through health hubs, expanding primary healthcare access, and ensuring equitable access for all Canadians — because 6.5 million Canadians deserve a primary care home.
Establishing clear accountability frameworks for AI systems — protecting Canadians from bias, privacy erosion, and labour exploitation, while keeping Canada competitive in the global AI economy.
This resolution called on the Liberal Party of Canada to commit to meaningful electoral reform, including the study and adoption of a proportional representation voting system that ensures all Canadian votes carry equal weight in determining the composition of the House of Commons.
The resolution demonstrated strong support within the NWLC — advancing through two rounds of democratic voting — before reaching the convention floor, where it did not pass plenary. The NWLC Policy Committee remains committed to continuing this conversation in the next policy cycle.
